SELECTING YOUR DUMMY CCTV CAMERA
Here are few tips to help you select the correct camera for the correct operational situation. The object of the exercise is to send a strong signal to the potential law-breaker that they are being watched and their activities are being recorded.
First establish your budget size, how much do you wish to spend? Next, consider the situation that the CCTV camera(s) are to be deployed in. Following this, how many cameras will you require? What locations are they going to be the most noticable and effective? Different dummy CCTV camera types cater for different needs.
There are a wide range of dummy CCTV cameras (domes, c-mounts, bullets, exterior etc) to choose from that that should meet every specific requirement:
Plastic Cameras: This is the cheapest option. If the camera is going to be some distance from the subject, they can be used but they do not deserve closer inspection
C-Mount CCTV Cameras: The typical CCTV camera seen at most premises. Gives the impression of a quality CCTV installation (especially if the flashing red LED variety is used)
Dome CCTV Cameras: For covert situations, typically retail outlets and the like. These are the cameras found in most high-street shops.
Bullet CCTV Cameras: Hi-tech, latest range of products now coming onto to the market
Exterior CCTV Cameras: For outside use, usually quite large, robust and watertight - outdoor cameras should be resistant to inclement weather conditions (rain, frost, snow). |
