Fence Spikes are an inexpensive security measure designed to deter trespassers and opportunists from gaining access to prohibited areas such as gardens, business property or your home.

Fence spikes take the form of moulded plastic strips (usually half a meter long) to which sharp pointed cones have been added at 15mm intervals . Typically each fence spike will contain three rows of 32 cones (96 cone spikes in total). Rows are hinged laterally to permit installation and profiling in difficult places. Each fence spike strip incorporates moulded guide-holes from attachment to the wall, fence or door.

Fence Spikes are an effective first-line deterrent in discouraging undesirables from gaining access to prohibited areas. Current legislation states that it is illegal to use barbed or razor wire to protect your property (strange but true!) as it may ‘harm the intruder’.

Fence Spikes are now as common place as barbed-wire used to be. Not only do they protect against human trespassers, they are also very useful in keeping domestic and wild animals away from your property.

Manufacture Materials:
Fence spikes should ideally be manufactured from polypropylene plastic. A fence spike should be flexible enough to permit installation into awkward areas, shapes and corners – for example, drain pipes and arched doorways.

Many fence spikes are brittle and not shatter-resistant which means that a blow from a crowbar could shatter them, rendering them useless.

Polypropylene construction ensures flexibility and are intrinsically anti-brittle by nature.

Construction:
Cones should be solid in construction. Many fence spikes are not solidly constructed. To save on production costs, the cones are often hollowed-out. This saves on weight but compromises the effectiveness of the fence spike.
